|
| Kehillat Magen Avraham, founded in 1973, is a Conservative congregation in Omer, near the city of Be'er Sheva in the Negev region of Israel. Its membership consists of 150 families from Omer and surrounding towns. Our synagogue is affiliated with the Israeli Masorti (Conservative) Movement. The Congregation offers a variety of spiritual and educational activities for all ages, emphasizing the values of Conservative Judaism: tradition, pluralism, zionism, equality and democracy. |

נושא פדיון השבויים נמצא בכותרות כבר זמן רב, לצערנו. לאחרונה קבעה הממשלה שלמרות ש"אין לך מצוה גדולה כפדיון שבויים" (רמב"ם הלכות מתנות עניים ח, י), בכל זאת גם לפדיון שבויים יש מחיר, ולא כל מחיר ראוי לשלם. אם היה מדובר בשאלה של כסף - נראה שבסופו של דבר היינו משלמים כל מחיר. אמנם המשנה (גיטין ד, ו) קבעה שאין פודים את השבויים יותר על כדי דמיהן, אבל לאורך ההסטוריה היו הרבה מקרים של אנשים שנפדו במחיר מופ... |
